Crows (and other avian creatures) have become an icon for me. They not only represent an extension of expression, with lusciously diverse plumage, but an extension of my self expression. Through the act of repetitive mark-making using unwieldy tools such as dip pens and ink, the meditative process becomes an often playful tete a tete with the ink splatter, forcing my hand to reset or comply with the painting's new way of thinking. The creatures also become part of their own journey of expression as I watch their travels unfold with the help of my hand.
